Openness – Flexibility – Connectedness
radically open dialectical behavior therapy (RO-DBT)
Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) is an evidence-based treatment for individuals negatively impacted by over-control of emotions and behaviors.
At Creve Coeur, our RO-DBT-trained therapists:
- Use skills training, flexible mindfulness, and education to increase openness and receptivity to your environment and social feedback.
- Promote acceptance of emotions, thoughts, and behavior while guiding behavior change.
- Provide a trauma-informed environment where clients can learn mental health skills, take responsibility for their treatment, and build meaningful change.
- Tailor each treatment approach to the individual client’s needs.
who can benefit from RO-DBT
RO-DBT is effective for a range of mental health challenges, including:
- Treatment-Resistant Depression
- Chronic Anxiety
- Anorexia Nervosa
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)
- Other personality traits such as hyper-perfectionism, autism, or Asperger’s
Clients with a combination of any of these symptoms, in extremes, report the following unintended and often undesired consequences or behaviors: social isolation, aloof and distant relationships, cognitive rigidity, high detailed focused processing, risk aversion, strong needs for structure, inhibited emotional expression, and hyper-perfectionism.
Guiding You Toward Stronger Connection
about RO-DBT
Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) was developed by Thomas Lynch, PhD, as a transdiagnostic treatment for individuals who struggle with patterns of maladaptive over-control.
Traditional DBT, developed by Marsha Linehan, was designed to address under-controlled emotional behaviors. RO-DBT builds on this foundation, supporting individuals who are highly self-controlled, perfectionistic, and who may struggle with emotional expression, flexibility, and connection with others.
